From the Cherokee Scout newspaper in Cherokee County, NC:
“Legal gambling is a step closer to becoming reality in Cherokee County.
On March 1, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Tribal Council approved a resolution to look at potential land opportunities and study the financial feasibility of establishing a Class II gaming facility in Cherokee County, Principal Chief Michell Hicks said…”
This has the potential to be a real boon to the area. If it does happen, it will definitely have an impact on property values and amenities.

Finally, our first blog entry. About a week ago we went to Cashiers and Glenville (about a 90 minute drive) to visit our friends who own Tom Sawyer’s (that’s really his name!) Christmas Tree Farm. It snowed that Friday and we awoke to all the trees flocked with snow. It was like being in a Hallmark card! (We don’t get that much snow here, so when we do it is a real treat–so beautiful!!!)We went sledding down the hill. Pam had the longest run and was headed for the pond. (She’s OK.) It was exhilarating to be a kid again. (Here is a picture at the farm from this past Christmas.)

Last Thursday we went to Shoebooties Cafe in Murphy, for their Thursday night “AYCE” (all you can eat) snow crab legs. It was our 38th wedding anniversay (Yikes!) It was great, as usual.
